These are what happened, what we learnt and how we felt after each session. Session 1 What happened: We were grouped into 3 different groups. We named our group Googolbots. We had to think of a group name, motto, logo and a sponsorship letter. We were entrusted different jobs like the contact list, creating a webpage, etc. One team member, Ervin, went overseas.
What we learnt: We learnt to accept and listen to others opinions and decisions.
How we felt: We all felt excited as we were working with different people.
Session 2 What happened: We fine-tuned the cheers, rehearsed them, and typed them out. We also decided on a template for our journal.
What we learnt: We learnt to focus when doing something. We kept laughing and joking and not concentrating at all.
How we felt: We felt that we should have focused on the hob more and so getting the job done faster.
Session 3 What happened: We were supposed to build a robot and program it to follow a black trail. Our designs kept falling apart and our program would not work.
What we learnt: We learnt to be patient. The programming would not work and we needed patience to figure the problem out and without patience, nothing would be solved.
How we felt: We felt quite frustrated, as our robot would not complete the run.
Session 4 What happened: We reinforced our robot so that it could stand crashes, but our programming still did not work.
What we learnt: The programming "LOOKS" easy but it is not.
How we felt: We felt good about our robot design as it was quite strong and steady.
Session 5 What happened: We made an attendance list and improved on the robot. Now, the robot is a heavy one with small "pincers", "dragon wings" and a "battering ram" with an "eye" in front of it.
What we learnt: Co-operation is not easy at all. Si Rui and Ervin spent half the time quarrelling over what kind of wheels to fix the robot.
How we felt: Everyone felt frustrated and unable to concentrate when someone is fooling around wither when building or programming.
Session 6 What happened: We saw this years challenge and playing field. We re-programmed and rebuilt our robot to suit this years challenge.
What we learnt: We need timing in this years challenge.
How we felt: Happy and shocked. Happy because we managed to complete task 1 successfully, and shocked because we had no idea the challenge was so difficult this year.
Session 7 What happened: We worked on the booth and freebie design.
What we learnt: Decorating the booth is not easy, and it is as important as our robot.
How we felt: We felt bored at some times, and interested at other times.
Session 8 What happened: The P4s typed out the cheers on the computer to print on A3 papers. The P5s were at the computer lesson.
What we learnt: The decoration of the booth is as important as the robot.
How we felt: Nil.
Session 9 What happened: We set to work on the robot and the booth, but everyone came to the robot, argued, and in the end the robot was half-destroyed and nothing was done.
What we learnt: We learnt that we needed to focus on our own tasks as "too many cooks spoil the broth".
How we felt: We felt frustrated, worried and that we needed to work faster.
Session 10 What happened: We constructed our robot back. The program is OK, but the robot fell off the table when it was pushed.
What we learnt: We learnt to be more careful. The trouble always comes when you relax and take things easy.
How we felt: We felt angry and frustrated about the robot and the person who pushed the robot.
Session 11 What happened: We decorated the robot, and printed out our box label.
What we learnt: We learnt that we must be creative in decorations, but they must be light.
How we felt: We felt better that our robot was not smashed. We were a little disappointed, though, when our robots decorations were too heavy for it to move.
